Project Brief: Black Oak – Living & Dining Room

Our Black Oak project was a designer’s dream! This modern European luxury style home designed by Kelsey Leigh Design Co. was furnished top-to-bottom by Heritage House. Our inaugural collection of warm, rustic decor was the perfect complement to this grand home, providing a cozy aesthetic full of organic textures and plush textiles.

Cozy Living Room Furniture

The living room of Black Oak boasts some incredible reclaimed wood details – primitive wood beams lined the ceiling and vintage wooden cabinets were installed as flush built-ins. We leaned into the rustic wooden accents by adding the London butcher table behind the cozy seating.

We wanted to give plenty of seating to this family and chose to incorporate different styles for a more layered look. Our linen Dilaurentis slipcover sofa, the raisin-hued velvet sofa on casters, and oversized bouclé Robin swivel chair were all strewn with an assortment of pillows and throws.

Design Tip

Set two rectangular coffee tables side-by-side in a larger living room to give the appearance of an oversized table.

Traditional Light Fixtures

Lighting is almost always our favorite detail in each space. We wanted to keep the fixtures in this space classic. The Rams chandelier was the perfect focal point for the Black Oak living room. The black iron finish of this Early American inspired chandelier was beautifully complemented with industrial sconces and lamps.

The home’s wooden beams ran across to the adjacent dining room. An over-mortared stone accent wall juxtaposed with Versailles pattern tile was all the inspo we needed to bring this moody dining space to life.

The classic Chandler farmhouse style dining table was a must to fill this large space. The breadboards at the ends expand from 96” to 126” for an easy transition for social gatherings and large family meals.

Mix and match your dining table seating for an impactful design! Our black, wave-back Olivia dining chairs were a surprisingly complementary pairing to our linen Everly slipcover dining armchair.

Perhaps the star of the dining room is the incredible felt pendant light hung above. The Oggoni pendant instantly modernized the rustic space. Trust us when we say, it’s even prettier in person!

The easiest way to breath life into any space is to add plants! We’re team faux (but if you’ve got a green thumb, go for it!). Greenery and foliage instantly make a space feel more organic and comfortable. We chose to go big in the Black Oak dining room, and “potted” our 10 ft tall grand ficus tree.
