A Capsule of History

In 1846, Stanislas Renault founded a workshop in a Loire Valley castle, marking the birth of a French institution. Using local grey clay, he handcrafted salt-glazed pottery, which quickly gained popularity in cafés, restaurants, and hotels nationwide. The unique glossy, textured finish that made these pieces iconic was achieved through salt glazing, where sea salt was added to the kiln at high temperatures during firing.

Despite ceasing production after five generations, the company's legacy endures, with its pieces symbolizing timeless craftsmanship. These no longer produced vessels are now cherished as rare treasures and collector items.
